Kyoto #2
Ouf, a full day of walking at Kyoto, 3 days is definitely not enough in this city.. I think one needs at least few months to fully explore and understand this city. It is rather interesting how I can be walking through a modern street and then have a huge shrine out of no where. I decided to follow a suggested hiking tour in the hostel, I did the first half of it before just wondering through the city. I did visit the Kiyomizu temple, something I really wanted to visit after seeing a video of it on YouTube. Kiyomizu is located on a hill, besides being a beautiful and majestic its location gives some nice views over the city of Kyoto. The temple was full of school kids of all ages visiting on field trips. The temple is the home to the famous "wishing stone" (I have pictures, can't upload them now), pretty much there are 2 stones about 40 feet apart. If you can walk from one to the other with your eyes closed, your wish would come true, otherwise it wouldn't come true for some time. Some high school kids had a friend lead them by the hand.. I am pretty sure that's cheating. Anyway, not in a writing mood right now, tour tomorrow, I read great reviews of it online so hopefully it'll be fun.
