First entry

Well, not sure why but I guess today's nice weather motivated me to finally start writing this blog that I promised to many that I would write. I have been at this point admitted to my Study Abroad program and I am currently waiting for paperwork from Akita International University where I will be studying. I wish to take this opportunity to quickly thank everyone who helped me with this difficult process. This includes my friends and family, Marina, Chris B, Chris C, Tatyana, Natalie, Nicole, Debbie; you guys helped me proofread my essay, come up with ideas for my essays and all of you had some kind of influence on me to come to this decisions. I of course would also like to thank Dr. Wittie, Dr. Sato, Mr. McKenna, as the professors that wrote me recomendation and Rob, my former Crew/Rowing coach who wrote a non-academice reference. Dr. Sato my Japanese Professor and my Japanese TA Kei-San get extra thanks for very memorable Japanese class. And finally I wish to thank the staff of both the Oswego and Stony Brook study abroad offices for their help. I really hope that I didn't forget anybody, I apologize if I did. Some of these people might never read this blog (I'll ask everyone to at least read this entry), but I feel its important that I include everyone.

Now that I mention this I'd like to write a short entry as to how I came to the decision to go to Japan. While I have considered Study Abroad all throughout my studies in college, I always made excuses for myself why I couldn't go, however, after giving it somethought and realizing that once I get a full-time job I may never get a chance like this again and that if I at least don't try I might regret it for the rest of my life, I finally decided to put things in action. I picked Japan because, well part of it was a sence of adventure, I lived in Europe before and I wanted something new and unusual. I am also a big fan of the Japanese language, I guess Love Hina had something to do with it as well. Click on the link to read it for free, its probably one of the most inspiring stories I ever read, I strongly recommend it. Since I am on the topic I will also give to one of Japan's best singers, Utada Hikaru. Watch the video and then try to tell me that she isn't absolutely amazing.

  1. you're sweet. i'm glad you're going. not because i want you out of the country, but because i know you'll have a good time. maybe meet a japanese girl, get married, stay. and then i'll have a legitimate excuse to get on a plane and fly halfway around the world. sound good? yea.
